  1. Fabulous photos Harry.
Especially nice to see some young kids amongst the shots, carrying on the wonderful jazz tradition.
I was at my youngest son’s HSC performance for parents and friends at his school last week. My son doesn’t play jazz, but a few of the musicians did and wow were they good. One of the sax players in particular was a stand out sensation – some lucky university is going to get him next year!

    • Thanks Jan,
The young players are an inspiration and ask some heavy questions OFTEN ! I went to a gig they were doing to see the 2 Apprentices who had just returned from the Great Basin Music Camp in Idaho last week and was greeted with huge hugs and a reminder of how much they appreciated the mentoring program. The trumpet player asked me to play for his audition for the Jazz Course at the Conservatorium – what an honour ! Idaho want at least 2 for next July [2013] so if you know of any kids who may like to go, I can put them in touch. They must pay their fares, and the 10 day accommodation, but the tuition is given as a scholarship.

    • One of the best things to happen through music is a close long term friendship with Peter the bass player. Been best of mates for about 25 years. Musicians who play together seem to have a special bond with each other. It’s some sort of telepathy I think.
